After scoring twice in a row to tie the game at two the Orono Red Riots looked to have the momentum in the final minutes but PCHS would turn it around and in the final minutes score the game winning goal to send the Pirates home winners 3-2 ar Orono on Thursday afternoon.
PCHS scored two goals, both by Mackenzie Kain in the first half to give the Pirates an early 2-0 lead, their defense would hold strong up to halftime and into most of the next half.
The momentum shifted with just about 10 minutes left in the game when Ellie Peirce cut the deficit to 2-1 and that’s when it shifted, because just about a minute later Peirce would score the tying goal with 9.24 left in the game.
PCHS would hold strong though as Chelsea Cookson would score what would be the game winning goal with 4:21 left in the game to lift the Pirates to a 4-1 record
Up next for the Pirates they will host the Stearns Minuteman onbSaturday at 11am
As for Orono, they get some time off, their next game is next Wednesday when they host the Dexter Tigers.
