Haley Ward scored three unanswered goals to lead the Husson field hockey team to a 4-1 win over UMaine-Farmington on Saturday afternoon. It was the North Atlantic Conference opener for both teams.
Arika Brochu gave Husson a 1-0 lead 19:37 into the contest. UMF (1-5) responded with a goal from Kyla Sturtevant just 1:21 later. Ward scored two first half goals to give the Eagles a 3-1 halftime lead.
Husson (1-5) outshot the Beavers 20-8. Sadie Royer had two assists while Kelly Griffin and Karen Stemm had one each. Andrea Shaggy had five saves for the Eagles. Grace DiMarco had 12 saves for the Beavers.
