Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 263 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had eight Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Lexi Ireland put in six goals to help the PVHS girls soccer team defeat Lee. Ireland has helped the Howlers (5-0-1) start the season unbeaten in six games. This is the second athlete of the week honor for Ireland. As a sophomore, Ireland won the 2017 girls soccer player of the year.

- Lexi Ireland- PVHS – soccer – scored six goals in 10-1 win over Lee.
Runner up
- Madisyn Hartley- MCI- field hockey- had six goals, two assists in three games (2-1 loss to Belfast, 10-0 win over Oceanside, 6-0 win over John Bapst). Hartley had hat trick in win over John Bapst, including scoring 12 seconds into the game by taking the initial pass-back and dribbling through all the defenders to score.

- Hannah Dorman- Dexter – soccer- scored the game tying goal late in regulation and game winning goal in second overtime in 4-3 win over Orono.
- Lauren Cook- Calais- soccer – scored four goals in 6-0 win over Woodland.
- Javona Philbrick- Central- soccer- had two goals and two assists in 10-0 win over PCHS.
- Tory Asbury- Dexter – field hockey – had two goals in 3-1 win over Orono. Scores one goal in 2-0 win over PCHS.
- Olivia Fish- Hermon – field hockey – scored two goals and had five assists in 8-1 win over Mattanawcook.
- Avery Herrick- Dexter- soccer- recorded a hat trick and one assist in 5-1 win over Central.
