September 24, 2018

Mookie Betts has four hits, including his 31st homer of the season at Progressive Field on Sunday evening. It wasn’t enough as the Red Sox fell to the Indians 4-3 in 11 innings. It was the second straight night the Indians defeated the Red Sox in the 11th inning.

Xander Bogaerts reached base three times before leaving the game with a shoulder injury. Reports indicated after the game that he was removed as a precautionary measure. Betts finished a triple shy of the cycle. He had two doubles and now has 46 for the season.

William Cuevas (0-2) took the loss but was a bright spot out of the bullpen. Cuevas allowed one run on two hits and three walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out four.

The Red Sox (105-51) will try and break the franchise record for wins in a season when they send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound against the Orioles on Monday evening at Fenway Park.
