Mookie Betts has four hits, including his 31st homer of the season at Progressive Field on Sunday evening. It wasn’t enough as the Red Sox fell to the Indians 4-3 in 11 innings. It was the second straight night the Indians defeated the Red Sox in the 11th inning.
Xander Bogaerts reached base three times before leaving the game with a shoulder injury. Reports indicated after the game that he was removed as a precautionary measure. Betts finished a triple shy of the cycle. He had two doubles and now has 46 for the season.
William Cuevas (0-2) took the loss but was a bright spot out of the bullpen. Cuevas allowed one run on two hits and three walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out four.
The Red Sox (105-51) will try and break the franchise record for wins in a season when they send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound against the Orioles on Monday evening at Fenway Park.
