Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 265 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had eight Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Drew Hayward reached a career milestone while scoring six goals in leading Woodland to a victory over Shead. Hayward edged out Riley Geyer (Cony), Alex Brown (Mattanawcook), and Carter Tolmasoff (Bucksport) for athlete of the week honors. Hayward joins Ryan Lincoln (5-20-12), and Damon Lincoln (9-29-13) as student/athletes from Woodland high school to earn athlete of the week honors.

- Drew Hayward- Woodland- Soccer-scored six goals, including 100th career goal in 12-0 win over Shead.
Runner up
- Carter Tolmasoff- Bucksport- football- rushed for 275 yards and scored four touchdowns in 50-36 win over Mattanawcook.
Other nominations
- Riley Geyer- Cony- football- threw for 370 yard and four touchdowns in 47-0 win over Brewer. Geyer played only one half.
- Alex Brown- Mattanawcook- football- rushed for four touchdowns and threw for one in 50-36 loss to Bucksport.
- Blake Collins- Calais- soccer- scored five goals in 5-3 win over Bucksport.
- Brad McKechnie- PVHS- soccer – scored two goals in 2-0 win over Bangor Christian. Had one goal and two assists in 6-0 win over Searsport.
- Elijah Allen- Mount View – Soccer- recorded a hat trick in 8-0 win over Nokomis.
- Hunter Smith- Messalosnkee- soccer- had two goals and one assist in 5-0 win over Skowhegan.
