A four plus hour ALCS Game 4 ended with a game saving and game-ending grab by Andrew Benintendi that would give the Red Sox an 8-6 win and a 3-1 series lead.
It was Rick Porcello vs. Charlie Morton pitching matchup, as the Sox looked to take a commanding lead over the defending champs and the Red Sox got the offense going early.
It was in the first inning when Rafael Devers would single to left that would score two giving the Sox an early 2-0 lead.
The Astros had a chance to tie it in the bottom half when what appeared to be a Jose Altuve two-run home run would be nullified due to fan interference.
Houston would get on the board though in the 2nd when Carlos Correa would get an RBI single making the game 2-1.
Boegarts would give the Sox a 3-1 lead on an RBI double in the 3rd.
The Astros would storm back with two runs to tie the game in the bottom of the 3rd thanks to a George Springer homer, and a Josh Reddick single that would tie the game at 3.
In the fourth inning, Astros outfielder Tony Kemp would wrap one around the foul pole in right to give the Astros a 4-3 lead.
The Sox would answer back in the 5th when Xander Boegarts would get an RBI single to tie the game at 4.
The hosts would take back the lead thanks to a Carlos Correa single to make it 5-4 in the 5th.
Jackie Bradley Jr. then came up in the 6th with one on and two outs, and he would turn on a first-pitch changeup and take it out of the park down the right field line to give the Red Sox a 6-5 lead. It was Bradley Jrs 9th RBI of the ALCS.
The Sox would add an insurance run in the 7th and 8th to give them a 8-5 lead.
The Astros would answer back with one more in the 8th making it 8-6.
The 9th inning came down to the wire once again as the Astros had the bases loaded with 2 outs and Alex Bregman at the plate facing Craig Kimbrel. Bregman would hit the ball to left field in what looked like a base hit, until Andrew Benintendi would layout and save the game for the Red Sox who are now only one win away from clinching the American League Pennant.
David Price will get the ball for Boston, as he will face off against Justin Verlander in Game 5 Thursday night at 8:09pm
