David Price pitched six shutout innings to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in game two of the World Series on Wednesday night at Fenway Park.
Price allowed two runs on three hits and three walks, while striking out five. Price didn’t allow a hit through the first three innings.
The Red Sox got on the scoreboard first when Ian Kinsler singled home Xander Bogaerts in the bottom of the second inning.
The Dodgers took their first lead of the series when Yasiel Puig singled home Manny Machado to make it 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning. The Red Sox responded quickly in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Red Sox had some two out magic which isn’t anything new this postseason. Christian Vazquez started the rally with a single and he came around to score the tying run on a Steve Pearce bases loaded walk. J.D. Martinez gave the Red Sox a lead they wouldn’t give back when he hit a single to score Mookie Betts and Andrew Benintendi.
The bullpen took care of the rest. Joe Kelly, Nathan Eovaldi, and Craig Kimbrel combined to throw three perfect innings. Price has now won his last two postseason starts. The Red Sox will take a 2-0 series lead into game three at Los Angeles on Friday night.
