The Boston Red Sox overcame a four run deficit and rallied for a 9-6 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in game four of the World Series on Saturday night at Dodgers Stadium.
The Dodgers scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning sparked by a Yasiel Puig three run homer. The Red Sox responded quickly when Mitch Moreland smacked a three run pinch hit homer to cut the deficit to 4-3 in the top of the seventh inning.
Steve Pearce evened the score with a solo homer in the top of the eighth inning. Rafael Devers gave the Red Sox a lead they wouldn’t give back when his pinch hit single scored Brock Holt in the ninth inning. Pearce added three big insurance runs when he drilled a three run double.
Pearce and Holt each reached base three times. Eduardo Rodriguez allowed four runs on four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in 5.2 innings. Joe Kelly earned the win by pitching two scoreless innings.
The Red Sox hold a 3-1 series lead and they have a chance to clinch the championship Sunday night at 8:15 PM. David Price and Clayton Kershaw is the scheduled pitching matchup.
