The Utah Utes built an early 25-10 lead and led by 17 at the half Thursday night, en route to a 75-61 men’s basketball win over Maine at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Maine (0-2) wouldn’t go away in the second half, and got the lead to single digits at nine on two different occasions on Terrion Moss three point shots. But Utah (1-0) would eventually push the lead back to 16 and hold off the Bears in their season opener.
Isaiah White led the Black Bears with 24 points, while Moss added 13. Sedrick Barefield led the Utes with 18 points, while Donnie Tillman had 15, and Parker Van Dyke added 11 points as Utah never trailed in the game.
Maine will play at the University of San Francisco on Saturday with a 5 pm Eastern Time start.
