UNITY– The University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK) Bengals got 30 points from Chance Cole, and a clutch three pointer from Kwame Oduro to grab a 78-76 win over University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) on Wednesday night at Unity College.
UMFK started the game on a 5-0 run. Dustin Simpson-Bragg scored a team high 24 points for the Moose, including a three pointer to give his team their first lead (29-28). UMA held a 43-41 halftime lead.
The second half featured seven lead changes, including two in the final 30 seconds. Alex LaFountain gave the Moose a 76-75 lead with 21.8 seconds remaining. Oduro dramatics came with less than five seconds remaining.
The Bengals scored 35 points off 26 Moose turnovers. Jarid Walton put in 13 points for UMFK, including nine in the second half. Oduro added 10 points. Bengals freshman and PCHS grad Bryce Gilbert put in five points and dished out three assists. Cole pulled down 11 rebounds to go with his game high point total. UMFK (2-3) will start a four game southern trip in Georgia on Saturday.
The Moose (0-6) had five players finish in double figures, including LaFountain and Devon Begin scoring 14 each.
