After two tough road losses to the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning, the Boston Bruins bounced back with a 6-3 win at home over Toronto Saturday, before picking up a 2-1 win in overtime Sunday in Ottawa over the Senators.
In Sunday evenings game, Brad Marchand scored a second period goal to tie the game, and Torey Krug scored the overtime winner to lift Boston to their second straight win.
Mark Stone had scored his 15th goal of the year at 12:51 of the first to give the Senators a 1-0 advantage. Marchand tied it with his eighth of the year on the powerplay at 7:49 of the second to make it 1-1, before Krug provided the dramatics at 3:07 of the extra session for the 16-10-4 Bruins. Both Krug and Marchand had two point nights, picking up an assist each to go with their goals.
Tuuka Rask made 27 saves for the win in net for Boston, while Mike McKenna made 42 stops in the loss for 13-14-4 Ottawa. The Bruins were 1-3 on the powerplay, while the Sens went 0-3. Boston will host Phoenix on Tuesday night at 7 pm.
At the United Center in Chicago Saturday night, the Boston Celtics picked up their biggest margin of victory in franchise history by crushing the Chicago Bulls 133-77 for their fifth straight win.
Seven players scored in double figures for the 15-10 Celtics, who outscored the Bulls by 21 in the opening half and 35 in the second for the final margin of 56.
Jaylen Brown led Boston with 23 points and five rebounds. Also scoring in double figures was Daniel Theis with 22 and 10 rebounds, Jayson Tatum 18, Terry Rozier 15, Kyrie Irving and Semi Ojeleye with 13 a piece, and Marcus Morris with 12 points. Boston shot 53 percent from the floor, and hit over 50 percent from the three point arc knocking down 22-43. Shaquille Harrison had 20 points to lead the 6-21 Bulls.
Boston will host New Orleans on Monday night at 7:30 pm.
