At Howland, Penobscot Valley used a late 3rd quarter run to pull away for a 48-26 win over Penquis on Tuesday evening.
Both teams struggled offensively at the beginning of the game, and the Howlers led by a score of 8-4 after the first quarter. They led by 11 at the break, then Penquis closed the gap to seven (23-16) with just over four minutes to go in the third. Grant Kidon took over as Penobscot Valley closed the quarter on a 13-2 run, scoring eight of the points, assisting on two others, and coming up with five steals.
Kidon would finish with 16 points, five rebounds, four assists, and eight steals. Other leading scorers for the Howlers included Elijah Wood and Brad McKechnie with seven, and Zach Mitchell and Alex Tash with six each. Penquis was led by Jake Baker with five points, while they got four points each from Alvin Robshaw, Corbin Cyr and Adrian McComb.
Penobscot Valley improves to 3-1 while Penquis slips to 0-4.
