Balanced scoring propels PVHS boys over Searsport

December 23, 2018

At Searsport Saturday afternoon, Penobscot Valley used a balanced attack to overcome the host Vikings.  Both defenses stepped up early, holding the other to well below their season average through 3 quarters.  In the fourth, Reece Carter’s 7 points helped the Howlers pull away for good, as they nearly doubled their output for the first 3 quarters (22 points in the fourth, compared to 26 over the first 3).

Elijah Wood led PVHS, scoring a game high 11 points.  Carter chipped in with 9, while Alex Tash, Grant Kidon, Brad McKechnie, and Zach Mitchell finished with 8, 7, 6, and 5.

Center Charlie Spinney was the leading scorer for Searsport, scoring 10 points on some efficient shooting inside.  Josh Wright netted 6 for the Vikings.

The Howlers improve to 5-1 on the season and face off against undefeated Dexter next Saturday.  Searsport drops to 3-2 and will travel to PCHS on Thursday.
