EAST CORINTH– The Penquis Patriots scored the first eight points and held off the Central Red Devils for a 38-29 class C girls victory on Wednesday night.
Central went on a 6-2 run to end the first quarter that cut deficit to 10-6. That would be as close as the Red Devils would get . Central outscored Penquis 10-7 in the second quarter and 14-11 in the third.
Sydney Fowles and Katelyn Bolstridge dominated the inside game to help Penquis out rebound the Red Devils 38-22. Fowles (17) and Bolstridge (12) combined for 29 rebounds.
Fowles put in a game high 12 points to go along with her 17 rebounds. She also blocked two shots. Megan Valvo scored eight points, including two 3 pointers. Camryn Rolfe recorded seven points (all in the first half), five steals, and two assists. Bolstridge had six points, 12 rebounds, and two steals. Penquis (5-3) will take a four game winning streak into their home game against Schenck on Friday night.
Alyse Campbell and Lexi Reardon each scored eight points to lead the Red Devils. Alison Shaw recorded four points, six rebounds, and three steals. Madi Speed also had four points. Central (5-2) will play at George Stevens on Friday.
