At East Milliinocket, Penobscot Valley rode some hot shooting and transition baskets to a victory over Schenck Monday.
The teams exchanged leads early in the first quarter, with PVHS holding a 15-10 lead. Grant Kidon was aggressive from the tip-off, scoring nine of those 15. Tyrone Davis led the way for Schenck in the second quarter, scoring six of his team’s eight points, but the Howlers extended their lead to 12 at the half, behind Alex Tash’s nine points.
The third quarter was very even, with Penobscot Valley outscoring the Wolverines 15-12. The Howlers broke it open in the 4th, outscoring Schenck 21-12 down the stretch led by Tash’s 8 clutch points.
Kidon led all scorers with 23 points, while Tash netted 21 (including three 3-pointers). Elijah Wood had another solid game with 13 points. Zach Mitchell finished with four points and played some outstanding defense in the paint. PVHS improves to 8-2 and hosts Searsport Wednesday.
Davis led the way for Schenck with 12 points, while Travis Thompson finished with nine. Isaac Adams and Regan Currie had six each. The Wolverines drop to 5-4, and make the short trip to Stearns to face the Minutemen on Wednesday.
