The Maine men’s ice hockey team received goals from seven different players on Wednesday night and put 10 skaters in the scorebook as well in a 7-2 thumping of Boston College at Conte Forum at Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
After the Bears Emil Westurland and BC’s David Cotton exchanged first period goals, it was all Maine from there. Tim Doherty gave the Black Bears the lead they wouldn’t give back at 4:57 of the second. Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup and Eduards Tralmaks also added second period markers to make it 4-1, while Daniel Perez, Jack Quinlivan, and Patrick Shea scored in the third to help break a two game losing streak. Quinvilan, Doherty, Shea, and Perez all had a goal and an assist.
Jeremy Swayman made 34 saves in the win for Maine (8-11-2, 4-5-2 Hockey East). Ryan Edquist took the loss in the BC net, making 33 saves on 40 shots. Maine was 0-2 on the powerplay, while BC was 1-2. The Eagles drop to 7-11-2, 7-3-2. The Black Bears will host UNH in a rare 2 pm start Monday afternoon at the Alfond Arena.
