Both the Husson men’s and women’s basketball teams will compete in the postseason next week as the North Atlantic Conference Tournament begins. Both teams earned a first round bye.
The Husson men finished the regular season with an 11-3 conference mark (15-10 overall), but finished as the #2 seed due to a tiebreaker with UMaine-Farmington as the Beavers were also 11-3. Due to UMF being 2-0 versus #3 seed Suny-Canton, and Husson being 1-1, the Beavers earn the top seed and home court. #5 MMA and #4 Thomas College and #6 UMPI and #3 Suny-Canton square off in the quarterfinals this Saturday at the higher seeds home court.
Husson will play the winner of UMPI-Suny Canton in the semifinals at UMF on the 22nd at 7:30 p.m., while UMF hosts the MMA-Thomas winner in the first game at 5:30. The two winners will square off Saturday the 23rd at 2 pm for a chance to advance to the NCAA Div III Tournament.
The Husson women went 13-1 in the NAC in the regular season and earned the right to host the final four of the tournament.
This Saturday, #6 Thomas plays at #3 Suny-Canton, and #5 UMF plays at #4 NVU-Lyndon in the quarters. Husson gets the winner of UMF-NVU-Lyndon in the semifinals on the 22nd at 5:30 p.m., while #2 seed MMA plays the Thomas-Suny-Canton winner at Husson University at 7:30 p.m. The two winners face off in the title game in Bangor at 2 p.m. Saturday the 23rd.
