BANGOR, Maine- Parker Deprey scored a game high 27 points, 19 in the opening half on Friday evening to lead the Caribou Vikings past the Washington Academy Raiders 73-49 in a Maine Principals’ Association Class B North boys quarterfinal game at the Cross Insurance Center.
#10 seed WA (9-11) kept it close in the opening eight minutes, led by a strong start by Jose Blanco who had 10 in the quarter and Caribou led 19-15. Deprey turned it on in the second quarter with 12 points as the Vikings outscored the Raiders 23-15, and took a 42-30 lead to the break.
Caribou (16-3) extended the lead by scoring the first six points of the third to go up 18, and the Raiders could get only get as close as 13 the rest of the way. The Vikings built the lead to 25 in the fourth on a 12-4 run to start the final eight minutes.
Deprey added eight rebounds to his point total. Alex Bouchard had 18 points. Sawyer Deprey also added 13 points. For Washington Academy, Blanco had 14 points and five rebounds to lead the way. Donald Soctomah added 12. #2 Caribou advances to a 2:05 pm Wednesday semifinal against Ellsworth, who upset MDI in the first quarterfinal.
