BANGOR- Tyrone Davis scored 21 of his game high 33 points in the first half to lead the Schenck Wolverines to a 69-52 win over Easton in a Maine Principals’ Association class D boys basketball quarterfinal game played Monday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center.
Schenck scored the first five points and never trailed in the game. The Wolverines went on 12-2 run that extended into the second quarter to take a commanding 25-12 lead. Isaac Adams scored seven points during that run. The Wolverines expanded the advantage to 40-22 at halftime.
The Bears scored the first six points of the third quarter. Schenck took back the momentum after freshman Kaiden Hannan took a charge. The Wolverines used the key defensive play by going on a 13-3 run to put the game away.
The Bears seemed to key on slowing down Wolverines senior leader Travis Thompson. They held Thompson to three points. Thompson was able to fill up the rest of the stat sheet with 10 rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Colby Hannan and Andrew Goulas added six points each. Schenck (12-7) will play Woodland in a semifinal game on Thursday afternoon at 3:35.
Isaac Currier scored a team high 13 points for the Bears. Matthew Pangburn and Camden Michaud added nine points each. Easton finishes the season with an 11-8 record.
