BANGOR- At news conferences held in Augusta, Bangor, and Portland today, the Maine Association announced the AA/A/B and C/D North and South Selections player selections for the 2019 annual Maine McDonald’s All-Star high school senior basketball games to be played on March 9th at Newman gymnasium at Husson University in Bangor.
When Southern Aroostook takes on Schenck in a girls class D semifinal game on Thursday night there will be three players on the floor that made the 2019 all star team. Kassidy Mathers and Kylie Vining from Southern Aroostook and Samantha Falone from Schenck will be featured in that game. Kaylee Deering (Dexter) and Lily Gray (Deer Isle-Stonington) also have helped their team reach semifinal games. Mathers, Vining, Falone, Deering, and Gray will join Ashlee Harris (Central Aroostook), Jenna Dugal (Madawaska), Emily Tolman (Mattanawcook), Camryn Rolfe (Penquis), and Mikaela Alley (Searsport) on the C/D girls north team.
McKenzie Beaudry earned Big East player of the year. The Foxcroft Academy leader was named to the girls AA/A/B north all star team. Maddie Candage (MDI), Caitlynn Tracy (Hermon) along with Weslee Littlefield and Paige Trask from Winslow will be playing in semifinal games on Wednesday evening at the Cross Insurance Center. Bailey Donovan (Hampden) and Annie Cook (Skowhegan) were semifinalists for Miss Basketball. Joining Beaudry, Candage, Littlefield, Cook, Tracy, Trask, and Donovan on the North team are Delaney Haines (Deering), Jadah Adams (Oxford Hills), Madison Michaud (Presque Isle), and Sydney Ames (Skowhegan).
Percy Zentz (George Stevens), Alex Brown (Mattanawcook), Travis Thompson (Schenck), Colby McLean (Sumner), and Drew Hayward (Woodland) have led their team to semifinal games. Joining them on the C/D boys team are Tyson Gray (Bucksport), Ben Thomas (Central Aroostook), Trever Richards (Dexter), Caleb Delisle and Camden Jandreau from Fort Kent along with Elijah Wood and Grant Kidon from PVHS. Matt Fleming and Damien Vance have helped Bangor reach the class AA regional final where they will take on Wol Maiwan and Edward Little. Garrett Trask (Hermon) and Marcus Christopher (Skowhegan) have helped their teams reach the semifinals. Cooper Wirkala from Oceanside joined Fleming as a Mr. Maine basketball semifinalist. Fleming,Vance, Maiwan, Trask, Wirkala, and Christopher will be joined by Ben Onek (Deering), James Anderson (Mt. Blue), Connor Robertson (Orono), Jonah Hudson (Presque Isle), along with Spencer Strong and Colton Carson from Oxford Hills.
