Rick Porcello struggled early and the Red Sox couldn’t come back late as they fell at Seattle 10-8 on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Sox start the season 1-3 and will head to Oakland and start a four game series on Monday night.

The Red Sox scored three runs in the first inning. The Mariners scored two in the second and seven more in the third inning.
Porcello leaves with two outs in the third. The Red Sox rotation woes continue. He threw 73 pitches, 43 strikes. Brian Johnson enters the game with runners on first and second.

The Red Sox offense got themselves back within striking distance thanks to a three run homer from JD Martinez. The Red Sox has the go ahead run on base in the ninth inning. Christian Vazquez and Jackie Bradley JR were retired to end the game.
While the Red Sox starters got roughed up during the four game series, the bullpen pitched well in the series.

Martinez reached base four times, including two hits, three runs scored, and four RBI. Rafael Devers had two hits and two runs scored. Brandon Workman, Colten Brewer, and Ryan Brasier each pitched a scoreless inning of relief. David Price is scheduled to pitch in the series opener at Oakland.
