The PCHS Pirates baseball team will hope to improve on a 4-12 record from last season. The Pirates have many returning players that gained valuable experience.
“Our strength is that we had a very young team last year that got a lot of experience that is going to carry into this season,”PCHS co coach Michael Chase said. “But this could also be our weakness as well as we only have 1 senior, 3 Juniors, 6 sophomores, and 5 freshmen.”
Co coaches Jamie Kane and Chase have high expectations for this young group. They are hoping to not only improve from last season but make a playoff run with their versatile roster.
“Coach Kane and I feel that all of our players are gonna play a key role through out the season and during some certain situations we may face this season,”Chase said. “We are very excited about this season as we should be very competitive and we are looking to make a run deep into the playoffs.”
Weather permitting, the Pirates are scheduled to open the regular season on the road against Lee Academy on April 22nd and the home opener is scheduled for April 24th against PVHS.
Ethan Chadwick is the only senior on the roster. Wayne Haley, Preston Ricker, and Colby York are the juniors. The sophomores are Colby Chadwick, Matthew Robinson, Fischer Cobb, Robert Germano, Connor Chase, and Isaiah Conary. The freshmen are Matthew Chadbourne, Stephen Williams, Trevor Hathorn, Alex Lyon, and Hayden Ferris.
