Husson continues offensive output in sweep at Lyndon

After a NAC doubleheader sweep on Thursday where the Husson Eagles softball team outscored Northern Vermont-Johnson 43-2, the Eagles were back at it on Friday with another big output in an NAC sweep at Northern Vermont-Lyndon, and again both games ending by mercy rule after five innings.

In the first game Friday, the Eagles scored 10 fourth inning runs and went on to win in the five inning shortened contest 19-3.

Olivia Smith had three hits and six RBI, including a three run homer in the win. Kylie Kennedy also smacked a three run homer and had two hits and five RBI. Whitney Bess had four hits, while Tamara Aunchman, Meagan Gosselin, and Katie Walker all had two hits a piece part of a 16 hit attack. Six different Hornets had single hits in the loss, with Emma Corey, Madeline DeGroot, and Cassandra Black having the runs batted in.

Alyssa Prest (1-1) got the win in the circle allowing two earned runs, six hits, with one walk, and seven strikeouts in 3.0 innings. Emma Moore (1-4) suffered the loss for Lyndon allowing 16 runs on 15 hits with six walks in 4.0 innings.

In the second game it was more of the same as Husson picked up their second conference sweep in as many days in a 20-0 five inning win.

The Eagles scored nine runs in the first inning and 10 in the third to help put the game away early. Katie Windsor had four hits and three RBI to lead the way. Bess added three more hits and three RBI, Morgan Coleman three hits and two RBI, while Jen Jones also added two hits and four RBI. Jones had a first inning two run homer. Brooklyn Scott and Gosselin also added two hits a piece. Meghan Campo had the only two hits for the Hornets.

Jones (8-5) won in the circle allowing no runs, two hits, with no walks, and two strikeouts in 5.0 innings. Amber Roberts (1-9) took the loss allowing eight earned runs, 18 hits, with four walks, and three strikeouts in 5.0 innings. Husson is now 16-8, 7-1 in NAC play. Northern Vermont-Lyndon falls to 2-16, 0-6. The Eagles travel to Bates to battle the Bobcats in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday at 3 pm.
