Maine women’s basketball announces familiar face as assistant coach

Van Buren, Maine native Parise Rossignol made news plenty in her time at the University of Maine as a basketball player. Thursday she made news that she will be part of Amy Vachons coaching staff beginning with the 2019-20 season.

As announced by Coach Vachon, Rossignol has now signed on to be become the next assistant coach with the Black Bears. Rossignol began her playing career at UMaine in 2014 for two seasons before stepping away from the game for a year. She returned in 2017 and helped the Bears to back to back conference titles and back to back NCAA Tournament appearances.

Rossignol appeared in 98 games in her career at Maine, with 45 of those in the starting lineup. She registered 567 points, 201 rebounds, and 74 assists. In this senior season this past winter she led America East in three point shooting at 42%, and set the all time school record when she made eight 3 pointers in a win over UMass-Lowell. While at Van Buren High School, Rossignol led the state of Maine in scoring in girls basketball four consecutive years where she averaged nearly 31 points per game her senior season.
