NBA free agency day one recap

July 1, 2019

NBA free agency day one was as about as chaotic as it could be with big names flying off the board left and right. The night saw big names such as Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant joining forces on the Brooklyn Nets, while Kemba Walker signed a deal with the Boston Celtics and Jimmy Butler went to unlikely destination in the Miami Heat

That’s just some of the big moves, here are the other moves and contract numbers from a big first day of free agency:

It all started with Brooks Lopez re-signing with the Bucks for 4 years, 52 million

Then, Nikola Vucevic re-signs with Magic for 4 years 100 mill

The big mic drop was Kevin Durant to Nets for 4 years 164 million dollars

Joining forces with Durant is Kyrie Irving who is sign with Nets for 4 years 141 mill

And why not add a big man to the mix as DeAndre Jordan is going to the Nets for 4 years 40 million

Heading up to title town is Kemba Walker who is signing with the Celtics for 4 years 141 million dollars.

One guard comes into Boston and another leaves as Terry Rozier is expected to sign with the Hornets for 3 years via sign and trade for 58 million guaranteed

Bucks keep their star point guard Khris Middleton, as he stays with Milwaukee for 5 years 178 million

After that settled the Bucks decided to sign and trade the other point guard in Malcom Brogdan to the Pacers on a four year 85 million dollar deal

Pelicans bolster their roster by adding JJ Reddick.

Ricky Rubio signs with the Suns

The Utah Jazz get a big player in Bojan Bogdanovic

Going back East, Tobias Harris re-signs with 76ers for whopping 5 years 180 million

Also signing with 76ers is former Celtics big man Al Horford who joins a big team of Simmons and Embiid for 4 years 109 million dollars

When you sign some big guys you lose some and thats what happened with the 76ers, as Jimmy Butler signs a 4 year 141 million dollar contract with the Miami Heat

The Knicks who missed out on Irving and Durant get a good power forward in Julius Randle for 3 years 63 million

The Warriors may have lost Kevin Durant but they added a new piece by signing and trading for Nets guard D’angelo Russell and signing him to a 4 year deal worth 117 million dollars

Now that’s just some of big names that flew off the board early in day one. Some names still remain. One name and the crown jewel of all of this years free agency is Kawhi Leonard and where will he go. Keep following Eastern Maine Sports for that and many more updates
