Rookies Lead Husson Field Hockey to win over UMF

Bangor,ME- The Husson University field hockey team defeated the University of Maine Farmington 4-1 Saturday Night at the Winkin Sports Complex. Husson’s four goals were all scored by rookies.

1st Quarter: The Beavers got on the scoreboard first with a goal from Alex Bessey only 3 minutes and 50 seconds into the game(Assisted by Emily Tolman). Husson had five shots on goal in the quarter but failed to find the back of the net.

2nd Quarter: The Eagles found the back of the net 2 minutes into the quarter with a goal from Caroline Johnson(assisted by Ryley Newcomb). Each team had multiple chances to score on penalty corners but could not find the goal. The score was tied 1-1 going into half time.

3rd Quarter: Leigha Carrier found the net halfway through the third quarter to put the Eagles up 2-1 (Assisted by Kolby Kain). The Beavers continued to pressure the goal but couldn’t find the net.

4th Quarter: The Eagles got insurance goals from Adelle Foss(Unassisted) and Victoria Friend (assisted by Katie Perkins) to seal a 4-1 win.

Kimmie Goddard earned the win in the goal for Husson having 2 saves on three shots.

The Eagles improve to 3-2 on the season and will travel to play Bates College Tuesday at 7pm. The Beavers fall to 0-7 on the season and will get some time off before traveling to take on Thomas College on October 2nd.
