Brewer, ME- The Windham Eagles(3-1) picked up their third win of the season against Brewer (1-3) Friday night by a final score of 42-8 at Doyle Field, lead by a big 4 TD performance by sophomore quarterback Will Ledbetter.
1st Quarter: Windham won the coin toss and received the opening kick, after their first drive stalled, Brewer was pinned at their own 20 yard line. The first play from scrimmage for the witches was a pass intercepted by Eagle’s Dylan Mathison which gave the ball back to Windham at the Brewer 8 yard line. The Eagles scored three plays later when sophomore quarterback Will Ledbetter found Nick Garrison for a 4 yard Touchdown. After Brewers second drive of the game stalled at their own 40 yard lien after a pair of sacks Ledbetter found Anthony Gugliuzza for a 54 yard Touchdown to put them up 13-0 after the PAT was blocked.
2nd Quarter: Brewer would march down the field on a ten play drive that started in the first quarter but would be stopped one yard short of there end zone for a turnover on downs. Ledbetter was sacked two plays later in the endzone to give the Witches their first two points of the game. On the ensuing drive for Brewer, they would march down the field again and and would score when Nutter found Joshua Seymour for a 8 yard score on 4th down to make the score 13-8. Windham would turn up the heat with passing touchdowns from Ledbetter to Jason Scott and Colby Mizner with just seconds left in the half to give the Eagles a 26-8 advantage headed to half time.
3rd Quarter:
Windham kept rolling in the third when a Brewer punt was blocked for a safety to increase their lead to 28-8. Eagles Matty Babb added a 2 yard rushing touchdown in third to increase the Windham lead to 35-8
4th Quarter: Derek Palow added a rushing score for the Eagles early in the fourth quarter to increase the lead 42-8 which brought in running time to close out the game.
Up Next: Windham will host Cony High School next Friday at 7pm, Brewer will stay at home hosting Falmouth/Greely next Friday night at 6:30pm
