Postgame interviews – Cid Dyjak, Brynn Kenney, and Anna Drinkert
DEXTER– The Orono Red Riots scored three second half goals to get the come from behind 3-2 win over Dexter in a girls soccer game played on Tuesday afternoon.
Just five minutes into the second half, Orono got a goal from Brynn Kenney, Isabella Baker got the assist that evened the score at one. Just seconds later Kenney returned the favor in setting up Baker to give the Red Riots a lead they wouldn’t give back.
Maggie Coutts drilled a shot into the back of the net that gave Orono a 3-1 lead with 8:59 remaining. Dexter responded quickly when Cloe Mountain scored her second goal of the game 22 seconds after the Coutts goal.
The Tigers put continuous pressure on in the final minutes but couldn’t get the tying goal. Anna Drinkert made a game saving stop with under one minute left.
Drinkert made five saves on 13 shots for the Red Riots. Orono (6-2-3) will host Houlton on Thursday. Jasmine Lewis made six saves on 15 shots for the Tigers. Dexter (5-5) will play at Searsport on Thursday.
