The National Arena League (NAL) based out of Atlanta, Georgia announced on September 20 that a new ownership group have been found for the Maine Mammoths and they are finalizing the sale with approval coming from the NAL.
That would mean the 2017 expansion Mammoths based out of Portland, Maine would return to play in the 2020 NAL season and beyond. Since the end of that first year on the field in 2018, the Mammoths owned by National Sports Ventures was looking for the right group in order to manage the popular Portland-based franchise in which they have now found.
In their first season on the field in 2018 the Mammoths started at 1-3 but finished out their regular season strong winning five games in a row, while taking down two of the favorites in the league and falling one game short of a playoff appearance. Maine will be expecting to still play their home contests at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland. More info and schedules will be released at a later date.
