The #17 Stanford Cardinal got shootout goals from Corinne Zanolli and Emma Alderton on Friday afternoon to defeat the Maine Black Bears by a final score of 1-0 in the America East Field Hockey semifinals at West Branch, New Jersey.

The two teams battled through regulation and two 10 minute overtime periods scoreless, forcing the five player shootout to decide who would advance to the America East title game on Sunday. Hana Davis, Brianna Ricker, Brittany Smith, and Cassandra Mascarenhas had the shootout tries for the Black Bears but were turned away by Cardinal goalie Kelsey Bing.

Maine goalie Mia Borley had nine saves in the loss, making six of those in the fourth quarter and two overtime periods combined. The Black Bears end their season at 8-10. Bing only had to make three saves and then the four in the shootout to send 14-6 Stanford to the championship game Sunday against Monmouth.
