Western New England amassed 542 total yards of offense on Saturday afternoon breaking out to a 28-7 first half lead en route to a 45-14 Commonwealth Coast Conference football win over the Husson Eagles in Springfield, Massachusetts.
WNE (9-1, 7-0 CCC) scored the first 14 points of the game on a 34 yard TD pass from Alec Coleman to Matt Eylander and then a two yard TD run from Coleman. Husson responded on an 11 yard TD run by Keyshawn Robinson early in the second quarter. The Golden Bears extended the lead to 21 though when Coleman ran for his second score of the day from 26 yards, and also caught one from Adam Razza for a 13 yard TD to make it 28-7. The Eagles did score once more before the half when David Morrison hit Aidan Hogan for a 26 yard score.
A 16 yard TD run by Peter Hoff and a 29 yard field goal in the third quarter for WNE made it 38-14. The scoring was finished off when E.J. Dudley scored on a two yard run in the fourth quarter for the now five time defending conference champion Golden Bears.
Morrison finished the day 12-27 passing for 174 yards, with one touchdown and one interception in his final game of his Husson career. Robinson had 21 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown. Robinson also reeled in four catches for 63 yards. Tyler Halls became the all time leader in yardage in a season with the Eagles with four catches for 38 yards. The junior receiver surpassed Kyle Guadet (1,031 yards in 2018), finishing the season with 1,057 on 71 receptions. Tucker Buzzell had 12 total tackles to lead the defense. Husson finishes the season 4-6, 4-3 in CCC play in their inaugural year in the conference. Coleman accounted for 246 total yards for WNE and four total touchdowns (1 passing, 2 rushing, 1 receiving).
