Husson Men’s Basketball Battles Past Lyndon 94-83

Bangor,ME- The Husson University men’s basketball team (3-3, 1-0 NAC) battled past the NVU-Lyndon Hornets (3-5, 0-1) 94-83 Saturday night at the Newman Gymnasium.

The Hornets were hot to start the game, leading for the first 10 minutes of the first half. Husson got their first lead of the game with a layup from Isiah Hart with 9:01 left in the first half. Husson went on a run that gave them a 47-35 advantage at halftime.

Lyndon would not go away as they closed the gap in the second half as each team would swap baskets through out the half. The Hornets would close within two points multiple times just past the 10 minute mark, but would not retake the lead again as the Eagles pulled away with foul shots down the stretch to win their North Atlantic Conference opener.

Bruce St Peter led the way for the Eagles with 16 Points and four rebounds. Justin Thompson had 15 points and seven rebounds, while J Thomas added 12 points and six rebounds. The Hornets were lead by Damon Denteh who had 23 points, while Kyle Cary had 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Zach Faulkenburg finished with 13 points and nine rebounds.

The Eagles are back in action tomorrow afternoon hosting NVU Johnson at 2 p.m., while the Hornets travel to Castine to face the MMA Mariners also at 2 p.m.
