Bruins end five game winless skid, beat Panthers

December 14, 2019

David Pastrnak scored his league leading 27th and 28th goal including the game winner on the powerplay in the second period Saturday night, as the Boston Bruins ended a five game winless streak (0-4-1) with a 4-2 win over the Florida Panthers at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.

Jake Debrusk opened the scoring in the first with a nifty goal for his 100th NHL point of his career. Debrusk poked the puck into the zone at the Florida blue line, and after a mishandle by a Panthers defenseman Debrusk followed it and broke it on Sergei Bobrovsky, flipping it over the goalie who attempted a poke check to make it 1-0 at 14:41. The Bruins (21-7-6) got a pair in the second to take a 3-0 lead. David Krejci got his eight of the year at 3:14. Brad Marchand spun along the right wing boards and led a pass on to Krejci who one timed it in from just inside the right point. Pastrnak scored the game winner at 7:30 on the man advantage, tipping home a shot in front off a Marchand wrister from the left faceoff dots.

Mark Pysyk and Keith Yandle scored for Florida (15-12-5) at 2:46 and 9:13 of the third to make it a one goal game. Pysyk collected a rebound in front of Boston goalie Jaroslav Halak and scored on the backhand, while Yandles goal was a blast of a slapshot that bounced off the far post and went in. Pastrnaks second of the night into an empty net with 2:10 left sealed it. Halak made 31 saves in the win, while Bobrovsky stopped 38 in a loss. Pastrnak, Marchand, Krejci, and Debrusk all had two points on the night in the Bruins victory. Boston was 1-3 on the powerplay, while Florida went 0-3. The black and gold head back to Boston to open up a four game homestand, beginning with a matchup with the Los Angeles Kings Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
