Tacko gets the call up to the Celtics

December 17, 2019

Due to injury trouble, the Boston Celtics have announced that they are calling up 7 foot 5 rookie Tacko Fall from the G-League affiliate the Maine Red Claws starting with Wednesday nights game in Dallas against the Mavericks.

With Vincent Poirier facing a possible six week absence due to a broken finger, and Robert Williams awaiting a re-evaluation in three weeks with a bone edema in his left hip, Fall will be up for at least the game against Dallas and Fridays home game against the Detroit Pistons said Danny Ainge. The Celtics may try to send him back periodically to limit the use of the 45 day rule he is allowed on the NBA roster on such a contract.

Ainge added we will just take it week to week to see what is happening after the Detroit game on Friday in Boston. Rookie Grant Williams may also see some time at the five as well. Fall has played just four minutes so far this season with the Celtics in a blowout win back on October 26 against the New York Knicks, scoring four points and grabbing three rebounds. The rookie from the University of Central Florida has averaged 13.6 points per game, 9.2 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks in 22.4 minutes in eight games played with the Red Claws.
