Howland- Alex Tash scored 15 second half points en route to a season-high 18 points, as Penobscot Valley defeated Greenville 53-35 in boys basketball action.
After a shaky first few minutes, the Howlers erupted for 19 first quarter points and held a 19-6 lead. Reece Carter connected on a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight during the frame. Zach Mitchell provided offensive rebounds and a strong post presence, tallying seven points.
In the 2nd quarter, Greenville’s defense tightened up and held PVHS to only five points. Luckily for the Howlers, they were able to match their opponent’s intensity on the defensive end holding the Lakers once again to six points. Penobscot Valley was up 24-12 at the half.
Tash took control in the 2nd half, aggressively taking the ball to the hoop for some tough finishes and dishes to teammates. His seven 3rd-quarter points and eight 4th-quarter points led all scorers. Camden Harmon started connecting from the outside, nailing a pair of 3’s in the second half.
Tash led all scorers with 18, while Reece Carter and Zach Mitchell both finished in double figures with 12 and 10 points respectively. Shane Borrello (6), Lance Neal (5), and Bryce Seeley (2) rounded out the scoring for the Howlers. Penobscot Valley improves to 4-2 and travels to the Cross Center on Saturday the 28th to take on Lee.
Harmon finished with 12 points, while Noah Bilodeau and Chris Caiazzo notched seven each. Adam Either (4), Jack Morehouse (3), and Drew Worster (2) also scored. The Lakers’ (2-3) next game is also at the Cross Center Friday the 27th when they square off against Penquis.
