BANGOR– The Dexter boys basketball team rolled to a 56-27 win over Stearns on Saturday in a matchup of previously undefeated teams at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Tigers went on a 7-0 run in the first quarter to take a 12-4 lead. The lead wouldn’t get below seven the rest of the way. Dexter would extend the lead to double digits early in the second quarter. The Tigers held a 27-13 halftime lead as Haedyn Geunther and Robbie Dorman combined for 16 first half points.
The second half was all Dexter as they held the Minutemen to four field goals in the half. Brett Kusnierz had seven points in the third quarter.
Elliot Shearer led the Minutemen with seven points. Hayden Friel and Michael Clark had six points each. Cole Kenyon put in three points, while Jacob Kowalski and Bennett Dunstan had two each, and Ethan Plourde had one free throw. Stearns (5-1) will host Bucksport on Monday.
Dorman led the Tigers with 15 points and six rebounds. Brett Kusnierz had 10 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Nate Richards added nine points, while Geunther had eight points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Will Kusnierz had five points and three assists. Logan Perkins, Cameron Paige, and Seth Robbins had four, three, and two points respectively. Dexter (6-0) will play at PVHS on Monday.
