Postgame interviews – Nate Richards and Peter Murray
DEXTER– Nate Richards scored 22 points to lead the Dexter Tigers to a 50-32 win over Mattanawcook on Wednesday night at Ed Guiski Gymnasium.
The Tigers made 3 three pointers in the first quarter to jump out to a 13-7 lead after the first eight minutes.
Dexter went on a 7-0 run to end the first half. Richards had seven points in the second quarter and 12 in the half as the Tigers held a 25-15 intermission lead.
Dexter outscored the Lynx 15-8 in the third quarter to take a commanding 40-25 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Richards went 5-8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to help secure the win for the 12-0 Tigers.
Richards had six rebounds and two assists to go along with his game high point total. Brett Kusnierz had eight points (2 three pointers). Robbie Dorman had seven points (5 in first quarter). Haedyn Geunther recorded four points, four rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Geunther also came up big on the defensive end, taking four offensive fouls. Will Kusnierz had four points. Parker Ponte added two points each, while Avery Gagnon made one free throw. The undefeated Tigers will play at Stearns on Friday.
Brandon Oliver led the Lynx with 12 points and six rebounds. Malcolm Slomenski and Jackson Weatherbee had five points each. Weatherbee also had four rebounds. Cody Hanscom put in four points. Griffin Coburn, Scott Dorn, and Matt Ouellette scored three, two, and one points respectively. Mattanawcook (4-7) will play at Sumner on Friday night.
Dexter shot 7-12 from the free throw line. Mattanawcook shot 6-12.
