Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. This week we had seven Rowells Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Gabrielle Wener averaged 21.7 points l, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks in leading Messalonskee to a 2-1 week. Wener joins Sam Dexter (10-6-11), Kristy Bernatchez (10-21-12), Chase Cunningham (3-8-14), Jared Cunningham (3-8-14), Sophie Holmes (2-19-17), and Austin Pelletier (9-17-17) as student/athletes from Messalonskee high school that have earned athlete of the week honors.

- Gabrielle Wener – Messalonskee- basketball- scored 21 points, including her 1000 career point and had 10 rebounds and two blocks in 55-51 win over Mt. Blue. Recorded 27 points (5 three pointers), eight rebounds, six assists, three blocks, and two steals in 66-59 overtime win over Nokomis. Recorded 17 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, one assist, and one steal in 48-44 loss to Lawrence.

- Makenzie Alley- Searsport- recorded 26 points, 15 rebounds, four steals, and three assists in 39-37 win over Bucksport.
