PORTLAND, Maine- The Westchester Knicks put all eight players in double digits on Friday night led by 17 points a piece from Ivan Rabb and V.K. King, en route to a 116-106 win over the Maine Red Claws in NBA G League (Development) action at the Portland Expo.
Maine (20-8) led once in the first quarter at 9-7, before Westchester went on a 16-0 run to take their biggest lead of the night 23-9. The Claws came right back with an 8-0 run to cut it back to six, but still trailed 32-27 after the opening 12 minutes. After the Knicks extended back to a nine point lead early in the second, Maine took back a lead for the first time since 9-7 when Jaysean Paige knocked down a three-pointer with 5:40 left in the first half. In the closing seconds of the second with the scored tied 58-58, King buried a three at the buzzer to give Westchester a lead they wouldn’t give back and a three point halftime advantage.
Westchester (15-15) scored nine of the final 13 points of the third quarter to take a nine point lead at 94-85 into the fourth quarter. The Claws got within four twice in the final period, but the Knicks pushed it back to 11 late to hold on for the road win.
Trey Davis led Maine in the loss with a game high 30 points, shooting 11-20 from the floor and 4-8 from the three point arc. He also added five rebounds and five assists. Paige finished with 16 points. Tremont Waters had 12 points, four rebounds, and nine assists. Tacko Fall returned and scored 12 points, grabbed six rebounds, and blocked four shots in 17 minutes. Yante Maten also added 11 points and nine rebounds. Rounding out the scorers for Westchester was JJ Moore with 16 points, Tyler Hall 15, Tim Bond and Andrew White III with 14 a piece, Amir Hinton 13, and Zak Irvin with 10 points. The Red Claws will return to action and host the Greensboro Swarm on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
