Dexter improves to 17-0 with win over Central

CORINTH- The Dexter Tigers outscored Central 29-17 in the second half to earn a 63-46 win on Tuesday night. The Tigers improved to 17-0 on the season.

The Red Devils scored the first four points of the contest and held the lead until Brett Kusnierz made a three pointer to give Dexter a 22-19 advantage with 6:10 left in the second quarter. The Tigers held a 34-29 intermission lead.

The Tigers picked up the defense in the second half, allowing only six points in the third quarter. Dexter held a 45-35 lead heading into the final quarter.

Central went on a 7-0 run after Dexter scored the first basket of the fourth quarter. Parker Ponte halted the run and gave the Tigers a 49-42 lead. Central would cut the deficit to five (51-46). Dexter ended the contest on a 12-0 run, including going 8-8 from the free throw line.

Alex Hewitt led the Red Devils with 12 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Scotty Ferrie added 11 points and four rebounds. Chandler Willard had eight points (all in the first half) and seven rebounds. Simon Allen har five points, two assists, and two steals. Bryce Burns recorded four points, seven assists, and six rebounds. Malachi Miller and Zachary Williams chipped in with three points each. Central (11-6) will finish the regular season on Wednesday night when they host Sumner.

Nate Richards led the Tigers with 18 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Brett Kusnierz added 14 points, six assists, and three steals. Richards (6-6) and Kusnierz (4-4) combined to go 10-10 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Parker Ponte had 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Robbie Dorman also finished in double figures with 11. Will Kusnierz and Haedyn Geunther each put in two points. Dexter (17-0) is scheduled to finish their regular season on Thursday at Bucksport.

The Tigers shot 10-12 from the free throw line, while Central shot 11-16.
