Alisha Aube scored a game high 20 points, and Ainsley Burns added 19 on Tuesday evening to lead the Colby White Mules past the Husson Eagles 60-56 in women’s non-conference basketball action at Colby College in Waterville.

Both teams held a first quarter lead, with the Eagles having the biggest at 8-2. Husson led 12-11 after the opening 10 minutes. The visitors still led in the early stages of the second quarter, before two free throws from Aube pushed Colby ahead for good at 16-14. The White Mules (8-14) built the advantage to as many as six, and led by that margin at the half 25-19.

The hosts would lead by 10 in the third quarter, before Husson would cut it back to six again 41-35 headed to the fourth quarter. The Eagles cut it to three at 41-39 on a Vanessa Duarte three-pointer with 8:12 to go, but a pair of three-pointers one by Carly Christofori and one by Keagan Dunbar over the next three minutes extended it back to an eight point Colby lead. The lead would go to the biggest of the night at 11, and Husson could only cut it to six with 42 seconds left and simply ran out of time for a rally as their 10 game win streak came to an end.

Aube added four rebounds to her game high point total. Aube and Burns combined to hit seven three-pointers as the White Mules hit 11 on the night in the win. Husson (14-8) was led by Bailey Donovan who had 19 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks in the loss. Sydney Allen added 18 points, five rebounds, and three assists and hit three shots from behind the arc. The Eagles got outscored by 18 at the three-point arc, making five in the game. Husson is back in action Friday night as they travel to UMaine-Farmington to put their 11-0 NAC record on the line against the Beavers, who are 9-2 in conference play.
