The Husson University men’s and women’s basketball teams continued play in the North Atlantic Conference on Friday night with a trip to Farmington to battle the Beavers of UMaine-Farmington.

In the women’s game, Husson had a big first quarter for an early lead and then held off UMaine-Farmington 56-48 to stay unbeaten in NAC play.

The Eagles scored the first four points and would later increase to a 13 point first quarter lead, leading 22-11 after the opening 10 minutes. The 13 point advantage was the biggest of the first half as Husson led 30-20 at halftime.

Husson went up twice by 15 in the third quarter on jumpers from Sami Ireland and Joan Overman and still led by 13 headed to the fourth. UMF used a 13-0 run in the fourth quarter to cut a 50-35 deficit to 50-48 with 4:03 to play. McKenna Brodeur had eight of the 13 points on the run to slice into the lead. Overman made a three-pointer and then Emma Alley hit two free throws with 26 seconds left to help secure the win for Husson (15-8, 12-0 NAC).
