Postgame interviews- Myles Brown, Coleman Brown, Doland Allen
BANGOR- The second game of the day Monday pitted the second ranked Schenck Wolverines boys against the seventh ranked Mariners of Deer Isle-Stonington in Class D quarterfinal action at the Cross Insurance Center. In a game filled with competitive action, it would be the Mariners knocking off the defending regional champions 63-57. The win was in large part due to the efforts of Myles Brown and Coleman Brown.
It was a tale of two halves for the Brown cousins. The first half was dominated by Myles who contributed 15 of his teams 27 first half points. The second half was where Coleman would take over adding 16 points along with stifling defense.
Myles Brown ended with a game high 23 points, with Coleman Brown right behind him adding 22 points of his own, along with eight rebounds, and three blocks. The Wolverines were led by junior forward Tyrone Davis who had 17 points along with seven rebounds and a pair of blocks.
A major reason the Mariners held onto their lead late down the stretch was due to their free throw shooting. The Mariners would go 12-14 from the line in the fourth quarter. As a whole the Mariners were 19-24 from the free throw line in the game.
The Mariners will advance to the semi-final round where they will take on the Easton Bears who had an impressive victory over Van Buren to start the day. The Schenck Wolverines finish their season with a record of 15-4.
