BANGOR- The Calais Blue Devils outscored PVHS 10-0 in the first quarter and earned a 51-33 Class C girls basketball quarterfinal win on Tuesday evening at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Blue Devils went ahead 13-0 early in the second quarter. The Howlers cut the deficit to 18-13, but Calais scored the last six points of the half capped by a Sophie McVicar three pointer as the Blue Devils took a 24-13 lead into intermission.

Calais scored the first six points of the third quarter to take a commanding 30-13 lead. Sage Phillips scored six points in the quarter, including two at the end to give her team a 42-24 lead going into the final quarter.
Lexi Ireland led the Howlers in her final game of an outstanding high school career. Ireland recorded 12 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists. Rebecca Carson and Laney Harding added six points each. PVHS finishes the season with a 13-7 record.
McVicar led a very balanced Blue Devils with 16 points and nine rebounds. Cook had 12 points, four assists, and three rebounds. Phillips added 10 points and six rebounds. Olivia Huckins chipped in with nine points, four rebounds, and two assists. Calais (20-0) will play in a quarterfinal game Friday afternoon at 3:30.
