Bangor,ME- The Husson University men’s basketball team rolled over Maine Maritime Academy 75-49 Tuesday night at the Newman Gymnasium.
Husson didn’t take long to get in rhythm as they used a 12-0 run to start the game. It took the Mariners nearly eight and a half minutes to find the basket and their shots did not fall. With the Eagles leading as much as 23-7 with just five minutes to go in the first half, MMA got some shots to go to get into double digits. Husson led 40-16 at halftime.
Husson continued to surge in the second half, getting balanced scoring from most of the roster. MMA got more shots to fall in the second half, but it was not nearly enough as Husson cruised to a victory.
The Eagles put four players in double digits. Bruce St Peter and Brett Cunningham leading all scorers with 13 points, with St Peter adding eight rebounds. DJ Bussey and Derek Collin each added 12 points in the effort. Bussey also pulled down 11 rebounds while Collin pulled down seven.
The Mariners were led by Nicholas DePatsy with 10 points, while Riley Jorgenson and Riley Macleod each added nine points in the effort.
Husson finishes the regular season 11-14 overall and 8-6 in the North Atlantic Conference, good enough for a home NAC quarterfinal as either a #3 seed (with a Thomas loss), or a #4 seed (with a Thomas win), this Saturday February 22nd at 2PM, opponent TBA.
MMA finishes their season 4-21 overall, and 2-12 in North Atlantic Conference play.
