BANGOR– The Ellsworth Eagles started quick and rolled to a 54-34 win over Washington Academy in a Class B boys basketball semifinal game played Wednesday night at the Cross Insurance Center.
After the Raiders scored the first point, the Eagles went on an 8-0 run and never looked back. Ellsworth held a 17-7 lead after the first quarter behind 10 points from Jackson Curtis. Ellsworth built the lead up to 22 (36-14) at the half. Hunter Curtis had 10 first half points, including six in the second quarter.The Eagles held the Raiders to seven points in the fourth quarter and got seven points from Darby Berry in the quarter as they earned a trip to the regional final.
Cecil Gray led the Raiders with seven points. Washington Academy ends the season with a 14-6 record.
Hunter Curtis recorded 17 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Berry had 11 points and four rebounds, while Jackson Curtis had 10 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Ellsworth (17-3) will play in the Class B regional final on Saturday afternoon at 3:45 PM.
Ellsworth out rebounded Washington Academy 30-18. The Eagles shot 15-20 from the free throw one, while the Raiders shot 6-10.
