BANGOR- The afternoon girls session at the Cross Insurance Center started off with a battle between the second ranked Waterville Panthers and the third ranked Presque Isle Wildcats in Class B semi-final action. In the end it would be the Panthers of Waterville showcasing their dominance and coming out with a 54-38 victory.
The first half was largely dominated by three point shooting, and Madeline Martin. Martin recorded all of her points in the first half, scoring 12. She also had a total of eight rebounds and four assists on the day. The impressive performances did not stop there for the Panthers as Jayda Murray added 14 points along with four assists, and played all but a little over 30 seconds of the game. Not to be outdone Kali Thompson also impressed adding 15 total rebounds while coming off the bench.
Presque Isle was led by senior Elizabeth Moreau who had a game high 15 points. Sophomore guard Faith Sjoberg also contributed adding six points on a pair of three-pointers also chipping in four steals on the day. The Wildcats finish their season with a record of 16-4.
Waterville advances to the Class B regional final where they will play the winner of Old Town-Hermon. The regional final will be played on Saturday at 2:05 p.m.
