BANGOR- The last semi-final matchup at the Cross Insurance Center was one for the ages. The Tigers of Dexter faced off against the Warriors of Fort Kent for an opportunity to advance to the Class C Regional final. In what proved to be one of the tournaments best games thus far, Dexter came out victorious over Fort Kent 55-52.
Dexter was led by senior captain, Nathan Richards. Richards put on a show scoring 29 total points, along with seven rebounds. Richards took over and dominated the second and third quarters, scoring 25 points within those quarters alone. Richards made four total three-pointers in the game, but would find himself on the assisting end of the games biggest shot.
Parker Ponte nailed a clutch three-pointer with only three seconds remaining in the game. This gave Dexter a three point lead leaving just under two seconds for Fort Kent to try and tie the game, and they almost did just that. Eden Paradis missed a three at the final buzzer, and Dexter came out victorious.
Fort Kent was led by Jace Rocheleau who had 22 points on the night along with eight rebounds. Eden Paradis also added 13 points along with four steals. The Warriors end their season with a record of 17-4.
The undefeated Tigers will face off against Central Aroostook at 8:30 p.m. Saturday for the Class C North championship. The Panthers defeated George Stevens Academy in the other semifinal in dramatic fashion.
