The 2020 NCAA Division III Tournament selection shows for both men’s and women’s basketball took place Monday afternoon with three teams from Maine making the field.
Husson University Women: The Eagles (19-8) earned their fifth straight appearance in the National Tournament with a 70-60 North Atlantic Conference Championship win over UMF on Saturday. They will travel to play the State University of New York Athletic Conference Champion SUNY-New Paltz Hawks(24-3) on Friday time TBA.
#5 Bowdoin College Women: The Polar Bears (25-2) earned the right to host a first and second round regional in the National Tournament with another outstanding season capped by a 70-60 New England Small School Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship win over previously undefeated #1 Tufts University. They will play Brooklyn(21-6) at 7PM, as well as Emmanuel (21-7) facing NYU (20-5) to begin the regional at 5 p.m. Bowdoin has appeared in the National Championship game the last two seasons.
#11 Colby College Men: The Mules (24-3) will earn an at-large bid to the National Tournament after falling to Tufts in the NESCAC title game in double overtime 102-94. They will travel to Hoboken, NJ to play Christopher Newport (21-6) in a first round game Friday at 4PM.
