NFL Draft continues; Patriots make two picks in second and three in third round

April 25, 2020

The National Football League continued their 2020 virtual reality draft Friday night with rounds two and three. Some of the bigger names came off the board, and after two more trades the New England Patriots made two selections in the second and three in the third after a trade with Baltimore and the NY Jets. New England had made a trade to swap out of the first round Thursday trading their 23rd pick to the LA Chargers. In the second, the Pats chose a safety in Kyle Dugger, from Division II school Lenoir-Rhyne (37th), and edge linebacker Josh Uche from Michigan (60th). In the third, they took outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings from Alabama (87th), tight end Devin Asiasi from UCLA (91st), and another tight end in Dalton Keene from Virginia Tech (101). As a side note, the NFL broke a record with 40 players taken from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in the first three rounds. In 2013 there were 40 players taken from that conference but over the first four rounds. Some of the other highlights included wide receiver Tee Higgins from Clemson headed to Cincinnati to join top draft pick quarterback Joe Burrow, outstanding tailback J.K.
